AlphaCL

AlphaCL is clear PET bottle flake, hot-washed and produced exclusively from post-consumer beverage containers. Bottle-only feedstock keeps the input stream consistent, and hot washing strips labels, adhesives, and residues before the material is milled to flake. An optional light blue flake content of up to 3 percent is available on request.

The grade carries a US FDA Letter of No Objection issued June 13, 2019 (PNC 2334). An LNO is not a blanket approval: the FDA reviews each recycling process individually and issues the letter only when that specific process is shown to hold potential contaminant exposure in food at or below 0.5 parts per billion, the agency's threshold of regulatory concern. It is the benchmark clearance for recycled resin destined for food and beverage packaging.

FDA-LNO pellet

AlphaCL PLUS

AlphaCL PLUS is clear post-consumer PET delivered as pellet: hot-washed, melt-processed, and supplied in a form that feeds directly into extrusion and injection lines. Pellet geometry, crystallinity, and intrinsic viscosity are held to specification, with IV tailored between 0.74 and 0.90 dl/g to the final application.

The grade has carried its US FDA Letter of No Objection since May 12, 2014 (PNC 1443), the longest-standing clearance in the Alpha line. The FDA issues an LNO per process, after review shows that the specific recycling process holds potential contaminant exposure in food at or below its 0.5 parts-per-billion threshold of regulatory concern.

Green PCR flake

AlphaGR

AlphaGR is green PET bottle flake, hot-washed and produced exclusively from post-consumer beverage containers. It follows the same bottle-only feedstock discipline and hot-wash process as AlphaCL, with contamination limits held to the same tight specification.

Like its clear counterpart, AlphaGR carries a US FDA Letter of No Objection issued June 13, 2019 (PNC 2334), covering the process that produces it. Green PET is collected, processed, and specified as its own stream, so the color arrives consistent rather than blended.

Thermoform regrind

AlphaSHCL

AlphaSHCL is clear PET regrind produced from post-consumer and post-industrial thermoform and like-kind food-grade raw material: trays, clamshells, and sheet from the same food-contact family as bottle PET, ground for reprocessing. Material may be hot-washed depending on incoming quality.

On paper it is the strictest grade in the line: the tightest contamination limits of the Alpha family (PVC under 5 ppm, floatables under 5 ppm) and the lowest moisture specification at under 0.3 percent, with a bulk density well above bottle flake. Thermoform PET runs at a lower intrinsic viscosity than bottle grades, and AlphaSHCL is specified accordingly at 0.58 to 0.65 dl/g.

Expansion 01

Pellet production

GHD already supplies pellet through AlphaCL PLUS. The expansion track is capacity: bringing more food-grade rPET pelletizing in-house, so that more of the line's output ships in the form converters feed directly into extrusion and injection.

Pelletizing is where recycled PET recovers its full engineering value. Extrusion shears the polymer and lowers its intrinsic viscosity; the industry's answer, solid-state polycondensation, rebuilds chain length below the melting point while stripping volatile contaminants. Owning that step means controlling the IV, the decontamination, and the delivery schedule in one place.

What it means

  • More of the Alpha line delivered extrusion-ready, at the IV the application requires.
  • Quality control of the final pelletizing step inside GHD's own supply chain.

Expansion 02

Waste-to-energy

Recycling has a residue: films, composites, and degraded fractions that cannot become packaging again. The waste-to-energy track converts that remainder into usable heat and electricity instead of sending it to landfill.

In the US EPA's waste-management hierarchy, energy recovery ranks below recycling and reuse but above treatment and disposal: the correct destination for what recycling cannot capture. A typical waste-to-energy facility recovers on the order of 550 kilowatt-hours per ton of waste processed. For a circular platform, it closes the accounting: material first, energy second, landfill last.

What it means

  • Applies only to fractions that can no longer be recycled into packaging.
  • Recovers heat and electricity that offset fossil-based generation.
  • Status: expansion track of GHD's integrated circular platform.

AI-driven predictability

Just-in-time supply lives or dies on predictability. This expansion track applies artificial intelligence across the chain GHD already runs: forecasting collection volumes, anticipating quality variation in incoming material, and timing deliveries against each customer's production schedule.

The goal is not automation for its own sake. Recycled feedstock is inherently more variable than virgin resin; the discipline that makes it dependable is information. The more precisely supply can be predicted, the less inventory the system carries and the closer the platform gets to true just-in-time circularity.

The platform is already binational: headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with GHD Américas y Socios Ambiental, S de RL de CV operating from Querétaro, México. The expansion track extends that footprint: circular-economy infrastructure designed from the start to scale beyond North America.

This site operates in English, Spanish, and Portuguese for the same reason: the circular economy of the Americas is one market with three languages. Infrastructure that collects, processes, and converts material follows the same logic wherever bottles are consumed, and GHD's model is built to travel.
