Circular economies
A circular economy eliminates waste by design. Instead of the linear path of take, make, and dispose, materials re-enter the economy at the end of each use. The reference framework, articulated by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, rests on three principles: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials at their highest value, and regenerate nature.
For PET packaging, the highest-value loop is bottle to bottle. A container recovered after use, processed to food-grade standards, and returned as feedstock for new containers keeps the material at its highest use, cycle after cycle. GHD exists to make that loop run at industrial scale: recovering post-consumer material and delivering dependable food-grade recycled feedstock to manufacturers, just in time.
In practice
- Post-consumer bottles are recovered, sorted, and processed into food-grade flake and pellet.
- Every pound of recycled feedstock supplied displaces a pound of virgin, fossil-based resin.
- Supply programs are engineered for continuity, so circularity holds up against real production schedules.

SDG-ringfenced projects
In 2015, the member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals, the shared global framework for measurable progress on climate, resources, industry, and communities. Goal 12, Responsible Consumption and Production, calls for substantially reducing waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.
Ringfencing is a discipline borrowed from finance: resources committed to a purpose are bounded, so outcomes stay attributable and cannot be diluted. Applied to SuperGreen, it means each project is scoped around named Goals from the outset, with its intended contribution defined before work begins rather than claimed after the fact.

- Each project is scoped against named Sustainable Development Goals at inception.
- Boundaries keep resources and outcomes attributable to the Goals they serve.
- Progress is assessed against the Goal targets themselves, not against generalities.

Triple-SDG investments
A single investment can serve a single indicator and still change very little. SuperGreen sets a higher bar: capital is earmarked for initiatives that satisfy three or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals at once.
The triple-Goal threshold works as a portfolio screen. Recycling infrastructure that reduces waste, lowers emissions, and strengthens local industry clears it naturally; ventures with narrow or cosmetic impact do not. The result is a portfolio in which sustainability is structural rather than incidental.
In practice
- Candidates are screened against the 17 Goals before capital is committed.
- Three or more Goals must be satisfied concurrently; that is the threshold, not the aspiration.
- Circular PET work naturally concentrates impact across responsible production, climate action, and industrial innovation.

Carbon neutral or negative
Carbon neutrality means the greenhouse gases an activity emits are balanced by reductions and removals. Carbon negative goes further: more is removed than emitted. The current international reference, ISO 14068-1, published in 2023, sets a strict hierarchy: reduce first, remove second, and offset only what remains.
Recycled PET starts ahead in that hierarchy. NAPCOR's cradle-to-resin life cycle analysis, prepared by Franklin Associates, found that replacing a unit of virgin PET with recycled PET cuts greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 60 percent. SuperGreen's commitment is to hold its activities to the neutral-or-negative bar, with reductions engineered into the supply chain itself rather than purchased at the margin.
In practice
- Reduction comes first: recycled feedstock carries roughly 60 percent lower emissions than virgin PET, per NAPCOR's life cycle analysis.
- Just-in-time supply programs avoid speculative production and excess inventory.
- Neutrality claims follow the recognized hierarchy: reduce, remove, then offset what remains.
